Patrick practices in the area of commercial litigation and business disputes, focusing his practice on resolving and, when necessary, litigating his client’s business disputes through trial. During the course of his practice, he has represented publicly and privately held companies, as well as the companies’ officers, directors, shareholders, managers and members, in business disputes, professional liability matters and derivative actions throughout the United States. Patrick has also investigated and prosecuted multiple temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions on behalf of business clients, freezing and securing millions of dollars in accounts and assets.

Patrick’s experience includes the mediation and trial of civil matters in court, arbitrations and various dispute resolution forums. By way of example, he has successfully prosecuted and defended, at trial and in arbitration, cases involving fraud, contract disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, fiduciary duty issues, real estate matters, and restrictive covenants.

Patrick has also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in professional liability actions (involving directors and officers, accountants, lawyers, etc.), some of which involved claims for aiding and abetting the commission of torts by the professional’s clients (breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, etc.). This is a cause of action first recognized in Illinois in the case of , 799 N.E.2d 756 (Ill. App. Ct. 2003); Patrick represented the plaintiffs. Thornwood, Inc., et al. v. Jenner & Block, et al.
