Update Canada 05-30-22
Today, we’re going to be talking about what’s happening in British Columbia with the x-ray policy, as well as what we’re hearing from The Ministry of Health there in British Columbia. I also want to share with you the kind of work that we’re going to start doing across the rest of Canada, so good stuff for everyone involved today. Good morning, Canadian chiropractors and allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of OneChiropractic and The Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, May 30th, 2022 for your weekly update. So I want to cover a couple of different things, but I want to start today by just sending a note of gratitude. Thank you to all of you that take the time every Monday to watch these videos, continue to contribute, but more importantly email and share with me what’s been going on in your different circles.
I get emails every single week. I do my best to respond to them. And they also drive a lot of the content that I give you is about the questions and the pulse of what I’m feeling throughout the week before doing the video. So I want you to know how important that is. I apologize if I don’t get back to everyone as quickly as I’d like to. I do try my best to get back to people within a day. But sometimes when I have a lot of stuff going on, or I’m traveling, that doesn’t happen and it takes me up to a week. So I apologize if you’ve been one of those recipients that it’s taken longer to get back to you than necessary. I do read every single email that comes through and make sure that I’m trying to get you the information that I have.
So this week we had a couple of emails that I want to address. There are more specifically about what’s happening in British Columbia, as it relates to The Ministry of Health and whether or not there is going to be any continuation of them releasing specific information related to the unvaccinated providers. And we did have another call with our legal team. We shared with them that concern, which they were well aware of and another letter did go to The Ministry of Health, putting them on notice that there seemed to be quotes from Bonnie Henry releasing or making comments about her, continuing to work with the colleges, to be able to make that information available. We’re waiting on a response from that, but our letter was very stern and direct letting them know that we have in writing from them that that would not be happening.
Should any activity like that happen, we would be doing the full extent permissible within the law to stop the ministry from doing such an activity. So I think it’s just Bonnie being PC as she’s out talking, trying to appease everybody. But I do not believe that is going to happen. So we’re going to continue to monitor that, as always, while we’re in British Columbia we will talk about our legal suit. We have taken over that and our attorney has taken over the driving force behind that particular policy. We were able to extend the case state that was supposed to be happening to challenge the judicial system of that policy. The judicial review is specifically about, did the college use the appropriate protocols in creating that policy? And we’re challenging whether they did because they don’t have evidence to support their position.
We’re very excited about our attorney jumping into that. He’s a bulldog. We’re already putting together all of the supporting material that we need to fight. It looks like that’s going to be happening in October. At least that’s what we’re shooting for, to have that judicial review at that point. In which case we believe we’re going to be able to force the college at the very least to be able to reconsider that policy. So we’re working on that. As we’re here fighting the rights of practicing chiropractors and allied health professionals around the world. And those types of cases are what we’re going to make sure we take care of. So that’s what’s going on in British Columbia, around the rest of Canada, we’re keeping our polls on. There are just interesting things in Ontario and other territories, little talk here and there about legislation happening on The World Health Organization issue, which you’ve been hearing me talk about in the last few weeks. Our legal team and lobbyists have been digging into that.
We’re finding that, although that is a very scary talking point, it is something we are going to continue to monitor. There are not a lot of teeth in that. States or countries are not giving up their sovereignty with that particular action and the vote that took place last week was just looking at interest on whether they’re going to continue to investigate this process. There’s still more work that’s going to be done. And we’re going to dig into that and make sure that we’re aware and working towards a resolution that ensures that our countries have their sovereignty and we can continue to operate as we have been. So lots of stuff going on. If you hear of anything I’d appreciate your emails anywhere from the rest of Canada. I know up in Alberta, we’re going to start talking about some marketing laws and rules up there that we’re concerned about that are limiting chiropractors’ ability to communicate.
So if you know of other things like that around Canada, that are, imposing on the rights of our providers, to be able to do the work they need to do, please know that that’s what we’re here for. And we’re more than willing to jump in and make sure that your rights are protected. So we love you. We appreciate you. Have an incredible week this week as you keep spreading the word. You know, it’s so important that we continue to build our infrastructure. Our goal is to get to a thousand contributors within Australia or excuse me, Canada, forgive me. I do these videos back to back. So, I script the countries from time to time. Our goal is to get to a thousand individuals in Canada that are contributing. That’s economic for one reason, but two to build a larger force of people that when we go to war, we have a bigger tribe behind us. So please continue to spread the word, share these videos, send people to our websites and let people know that we exist and about the work that we’re doing so that they can be a part of it. So again, have an incredible week this week. Please, don’t forget why you do what you do. Find that purpose, connect to it. Continue to love and serve the best you can. Remember, we love for the sake of loving. We serve for the sake of serving. We give for the sake of giving. It’s not about what we get in return. It’s about our ability to impact those around us that give us the most joy. So try to focus on that in the midst of these crazy times and know that you are not alone, we’ve got your back and we’re going to continue to love and serve as we can. Thank you and God bless you.
