We’re still working hard in British Columbia, both on the privacy side, as well as the x-ray issue, but we’re also going to start reaching out to other provinces and start dealing with more specific chiropractic college issues. So lots for you today in the update. Good morning, Canadian chiropractors and allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag and I am the Executive Director of OneChiropractic and The Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, June 6th, 2022 for your weekly update. I hope you’ve had a great week this past week. We’ve been busy as always in Canada. It seems to be one of the countries that we’re spending a lot of time and energy on, specifically British Columbia. We have two things that we’re dealing with there. We were fighting against the mandates, making sure those didn’t happen. But now it’s more about working with the ministry, explaining to them the importance of not sharing private information.
Bonnie Henry continues to go out and communicate that she’s working with the colleges to try to find a way to release more information as an intent for informed consent. Our legal teams are actively working with the ministry to explain to them. They can’t do this, giving them ample evidence, trying to prevent that, and putting them on notice that if they do something of that nature, we are going to be fighting with everything we have. So that is still working. We believe that’s just a lot of bantering back and forth, but just want you to know that we’re not turning a blind eye to that. We’re also digging in headstrong on the x-ray issue. As I shared with you last week, we have retained Lee Turner as our lead counsel on that particular issue. Right now we’re transitioning information from our previous attorney to Lee.
And then we’re working on our argument. We believe we’ll be hearing that in September, or October as we’re putting our strategies together. We have a lot of information. Thank you a lot of you for emailing me with contacts you had. I will be reaching out if that is necessary right now. I’m just trying to get Lee caught up with all of the information so that we can push forward in an organized fashion. So we’ll be updating you on that, but just wanted to give you an expectation of timeframe. It looks like September, or October is when that judicial review will happen. Also, I started working with CAC and having conversations. A number of you have reached out to me, thank you for your emails on issues of things like advertising. I know in Alberta and British Columbia, we have issues with them restricting what you can and can’t say, we’re going to start looking into some of that stuff, and we’re going to be doing an assessment across all of Canada, making sure that chiropractors have the ability to tell the story of chiropractic without fear of retribution from their college.
So just know that we’re starting to branch out. I told you from the very beginning that our organization is not just about the mandates. That just happens to be the fire that’s burning. We are now going to be taking on some other issues that handcuff chiropractors around the rest of the country. So I’m asking you to please help me spread the word. We have a, a good nucleus of people in British Columbia because that’s where the fire has been burning the most, but we want to get all of Canada involved in what we’re doing and being aware of the work that’s being done and getting them to be a part of this. Yes, the economics of this are important, but more importantly, is getting the tribe together. Getting people to hear from one source all the time on these types of legal issues. And so I need you to continue to spread the word to your colleagues around the country. It doesn’t matter what province they’re in and gets them plugged into The Chiropractic Defense Council. So I would appreciate you helping me to go out and evangelize on behalf of The Chiropractic Defense Council but more importantly so that we can do the work that needs to be done for our profession.
