Pretty interesting week this week in Australia, as  we are starting to see some strange behavior coming out of Opera. And I’ve been getting some emails from you guys. So today I’m going to kind of explain what’s going on with all of that, what you can expect, at least from our perspective moving forward. So good morning, Australian chiropractors and allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of OneChiropractic and the Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, May 9th, 2022 for your weekly update. So this week’s been a little interesting. I’ve been getting a lot of emails from you guys and it’s interesting. And I’m not saying this derogatorily at all, but for those that watch the videos versus those that don’t, and I understand not everyone, takes the time to do that, and that’s fine, but we’ve been talking about what we’ve been seeing from Opera and their code of conduct.

Now for quite a few weeks. I started getting some emails somehow that’s starting to spin around the country we are aware of that we have already, our attorneys have already sent a letter to Opera. I do want you to be very clear on a couple of things. Number one, it is a code of conduct. These are not rules and policies. I’m not saying that there’s no danger and that we don’t need to look at this because we do. And we are, but this is not a massive shift where they can de-register you as a healthcare provider under Opera. So I don’t want you freaking out. I don’t want you, feeling like we’ve been getting some kind of scary emails, some people that are pretty scared thinking they’re going to lose their registration and that’s not going to happen. One, we won’t let it happen, but two, they won’t do that in a code of conduct. That’s more like good policies. Now it does give grounds for potential investigations, but that in and of itself and how vague the language is. I know  we are hypersensitive right now and  we are reading it as if it’s specifically talking about the COVID vaccine. But again, it’s very vague. We are asking for clarification,  we are asking for the motivation for adding it. And then what they’re really looking at for it. So we’ll give you that information as we get closer. But I want you to, to be clear that it is a code of conduct. It is not a policy if you will. And  we are on top of it, we are aware of it and we are reaching out to Opera and we’ll have those conversations. So stay tuned on that.

With Opera, we are starting to see, they’re getting a little bit bold. We have a couple cases where opera is threatening issues with providers. So it looks like we are going to finally get to go toe to toe with Opera at this point still early on this week was the first we’ve seen the language come from them. This was specific after a specific complaint to a specific provider. Believe it or not, we are a little excited about it, because it gives us a chance to really go after them. Up to this point, they’ve really just kinda put their hands up and haven’t said anything. So, we are not sure where the emboldened attitude is coming from, but we are fully prepared and our legal team is ready to start moving on that. So we’ll be giving you an update if anyone else has any type of language, threatening language from Opera, other than just a basic complaint. Well, really any communication you should be reaching out to us, but we are collecting that. We’ve only got one that we are aware of at this point. And so if anyone else has that, please let us know. Please don’t get scared and think there’s another wave of abuse coming. I don’t believe that’s the case. I think we just have a unique situation here and  we are looking forward to pushing the buttons and seeing what happens throughout it. So otherwise everything else is still going well.  we are starting to see even more language about you know, the states of emergencies being dropped. I do know that that’s also in hand with a number of states looking at legislation. We are following that as well. I know in Southern Australia, they’re talking about legislation. But I want you to understand if they legislate things, although that’s still a bad idea and  we are going to do our best to fight it. They typically have to have major loopholes in order to get it through the legislative process.

So if that’s the case, then we’ll obviously investigate what those loopholes are and make sure that our people fit within them. So not great. I’m not saying I’m happy about it, but it’s also not the end of the world. The legislative process opens up more than the state of emergency. So again, we are on top of all this, we are going to communicate with you as this stuff develops. I still think a lot of it’s political posturing. I don’t know if it’ll actually get through the legislative process. And again, if it does, it’s going to have pretty significant loopholes that allow people to make their own decisions. So we’ll continue to monitor that. Just know that everything is still well in hand. On the large part, everybody is still functioning and doing their part. You just do your thing, man. Let us defend you. You continue to love and serve through your trade.

Staying in a state of mind, right? Remember last week I talked to you about “dropping in” and being present. You need to do that and not be worried about the things you can’t control, because I promise you, we will never leave you stranded. So we love you. We appreciate you. We need to grow our tribe while we are in the calmer times because that’s when we are building for the next round. And we all know, everybody knows that something’s going to be happening as we round the corner near the end of the year. So please now’s the time to keep sharing this with your colleagues. Let people know that we exist. I am planning that trip out there around August time, August, September. So, hopefully we’ll get a chance to share some of the same air together.
