Update United States 08-29-22
Man, what a week it has been in the United States. I have a lot to share with you today so please pay close attention, as I had conversations with CCE, with FCLB, with NBCE, as well as the work that we’re doing around the rest of the country. So lots to update you on today.
Good morning, American chiropractors. My name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Defense Council, coming to you today, Monday, August 29th, 2022, for your weekly update. I’m going to try my best to keep this video as short as I can, but just so much information.
I kind of teased you last week that I was going to be having a lot of big meetings this week. And I was successful in having those meetings, and man, so much information gained. I love asking these questions. I love being in the room with people that can provide me with realistic answers. And it’s just another example of how, man, we jump to conclusions so much in this profession without doing the due diligence to figure out exactly what’s going on.
And I’m going to be excited to be rolling out here in the next month and a half, some conversations in detail about what we’ve been doing with CCE and finding out the truth between CCE and NBCE. And again, remember, I’ve been talking about this a lot, and I’ve gotten a lot of emails from some of you guys saying, what do you think that is so broken? What is this infrastructure you’re talking about?
It’s the fact that our profession does not have a concise way to operate. We tend to fight each other through all of these processes, and we make things far more difficult for our students. If you don’t understand the importance of right now in history to have more people going through chiropractic school and producing more chiropractors, and chiropractors that are ready to come out and serve immediately, it’s absolutely imperative because of where the world is going and the reality that’s starting to happen throughout healthcare. They’re starting to understand who we are and what we do.
And if we don’t fix the hemorrhaging, if we just worry about cleaning up the blood, which is the fight that’s already there, because the model’s broken, you know, the Defense Council is committed to doing both. And we’ve told you that from the very beginning. We will defend the rights of the practicing chiropractor, but we also have to fix the infrastructure that’s creating those issues that are causing them to come after you. And a lot of that has to do with that organizational structure and that foundation of how people become chiropractors, how states create licensing boards.
I’m dealing with two different chiropractors right now that are in the process of losing their license potentially because of this whole process and how things happen. And we need to make sure that we’re all on the same page. And we believe that the Defense Council is going to be that glue that’s going to hold all of these organizations together through communication, through accountability, and then problem solving in a much more effective manner than what’s been happening in the past. Nobody has taken the time to do this, and we are going to do it. And the conversations were incredible.
All of the organizations are very open to having these conversations, and we’re going to make that impact. That may not mean a lot to you right now, but I need you to understand how pivotal these meetings have been to the future of our profession and creating a new reality for our students. If you pay attention to anything that’s been happening in the chiropractic magazines, with NBCE and everyone throwing up in arms, and unfortunately things are being printed and said and done that the due diligence hasn’t been done to understand exactly how this process works. And that’s part of what we want to correct, as well.
I also want you to know, as I alluded to, we have some chiropractors that have raised their hands that are having some issues with their licensing boards, and we’re very proud to be able to support them and working with them through this process of getting them the right attorneys, making sure that they’re as protected as humanly possible. That’s what we’re here for. We’re here to protect the rights of the practicing chiropractor. We want to make sure that you have the capability to love and serve your community within the confines of your scope in your state without any hindrance. And that is exactly what we’re going to do.
So if you’re having those issues, please reach out to us. If you’re a part of a state association and you know of issues in your state that are limiting the effectiveness of chiropractors to be able to tell the story of chiropractic, reach out to us and we will work with your state association to ensure that those things get corrected. The power of what we’ve created and what we’re able to do is unbelievable, and I’m so excited and honored to be able to be a part of that, but we need you guys joining in with us.
So a lot going on, lots of amazing things. We have so many amazing leaders in this profession, and they’re so easily thrown under the bus because people don’t understand. Well, we’re going to bring a state of clarity to you, to allow you to understand how these things work, why we’re making the changes we’re making, and you’re going to be a part of that process.
